WENEXA recognizes the dual impact of uncontrolled groundwater extraction on both energy and water sectors. The goals of the project are to identify solutions to the water and energy nexus and to design appropriate intervention models to address these issues at the local, state and national level. WENEXA II is mainly concerned with energy interventions that include: · Improving distribution systems; · Potential crop shifts based on water balance studies; · Crop water budgeting; · Educating the farmers on the need for energy efficient pumping systems, changes in ground water and methods to plan crops depending on the availability of groundwater; · The introduction of micro-irrigation concepts. |
