Arashinakunte follow-up program:
The Chaithanya Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at Arashinakunte continues to provide follow-up services to the CBOs promoted by IYD in Nelamangala taluk, Bangalore rural district. SHGs at Arashinakunte village were assisted in obtaining loans from Canara Bank for IGA. Several training programs have been organized in Arashinakunte, like a training program on “Women’s Rights and Employment Opportunities” in May 2005, a training program on candle-making and a taluk-level training program for Gram Panchayat members.
T.Andipatti follow-up program:
This follow-up program takes place in T.Andipatti in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu, and involves the running of the Crèche Unit at T.Andipatti and the Mini Health Centre at C.Pudur and guiding the women SHGs in the project area. 25 children were admitted to the crèche centre. One teacher and two ayyas maintain the centre. The main aim of this centre is providing good food, good teaching and playing materials. Supplementary food is provided to the children and the centre is visited by a medical doctor twice monthly. The Mini Health Centre is fully managed by youth club members. Three times a week the centre is attended by a medical doctor and there are a fulltime nurse and an ayya. A general health camp and an eye camp were organized. |
